Sermon | "God is Trustworthy" | January 28

It’s one thing to see God as “good” no matter how bad things are.  It’s still another to see Him as trustworthy, because “trustworthy” implies that we’re willing to take action based on what we know about Him.  That’s a high bar in a life filled with hardship, uncertainty and brokenness that threaten to erode that trust. However, Jesus reveals to us that God is not just good, but a good “Father” that He trusts. Jesus' word and Jesus actions make all the difference for us.

Sermon | "God is Still Good"

One of the most frequently asked, and often most frustrating, question is "why do bad things happen to good people?" Or, it's not too distant cousin, "if God is good, why is there suffering in the world?" These questions come from the honest struggle of God's people as they wrestle with their own hardship and suffering. It's questions like these that are on the minds and hearts of those teetering on faith. Jesus helps us answer this question. If we want to know what God is like, then we look to Jesus. And when we look at Jesus we see a God who still good no matter how bad it is.

Sermon | ”God Revealed” | January 7

While there had been hints about Jesus' identity since his birth - it is at his baptism that the definitive word of the Father is spoken, "This is my beloved son." Jesus is God with flesh on...or, as St. Paul says, Jesus is the image of the invisible God. In other words, if we want to know what God is like, we look to Jesus and the picture he reveals. God is no longer hidden behind a veil, in a holy of holies, rather, he is revealed to all the world. Come and see God revealed.

Sermon | ”The Christmas Miracle” | December 31

Christmas...AGAIN? Yep. Sure is. There's so much to enjoy and one day is not enough.  You already heard the story but did you stop to marvel? Did you awe in the the story that's quite mundane and yet full of mystery? Did it give you new eyes for your everyday life? your mundane? It can. Hear it again. Look and listen for the mystery and the miracles.  Hint: they're not just in the pages of history in God's word.

Christmas Eve Sermon | ”A Thrill of Hope” | December 24

To illuminate is to make something visible by shining a light on it! The Prophet Isaiah declared that a people walking in darkness have seen a great LIGHT! And, upon those who are living in darkness - a light has dawned! The light Isaiah spoke about is the very one who would proclaim, "“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." Jesus has come to make visible that which has always been true - God's love for the world and abundant life with His love.

Sermon | ”Hope Carries Me” | December 24

In the journey of following Jesus, the light of the world, there will still be darkness and valleys along the way. When we find ourselves there, we might be tempted to think we can find a way around it or avoid it all together. However, often, the only way past the darkness is through it. Thankfully, we have a God who has proven that He's good---time and time again. So, we face the darkness with Him and get to trust it is the path to the good that we just can't yet see.

Israel/Palestine Bible Study | Week 3

What is happening in Israel and the Gaza Strip and how are we, as followers of Jesus, supposed to respond? In this study, we'll explore the biblical origins of this conflict, understand who "God's People" are, wrestle with American foreign policy as it relates to Israel and address issues of justice for all.

It's amazing what a coat of paint can do for both a room and a heart - it brings refreshment like lemonade on a hot day. When the world delivers darkness and frustration, when we experience hurt and heartache, when we encounter hate and injustice - we are left dry. When life is too much, it's hard to feel...anything. When that happens, when all seems lost, cry out, 'Refresh me.".
