Countless words have been written about The Parable of the Prodigal Son. In fact, most of us could probably retell the story from memory. Sure - we might not get all the facts, but we could certainly give you the overview. It’s so popular, in fact, “prodigal” is used by Christians and non-christians alike. But, what if the Parable of the Prodigal Son speaks more about the Father’s character than the son’s? What if the parable helps us see the heart of a prodigal’s father?

The world, at present, feels so incredibly chaotic, so incredibly antagonistic, so incredibly polar. In a culture that prides itself on individual rights, individual visions, individuals above community...it’s easy for this kind of thinking to enter into the heart of the church. But, the scriptures are quite clear: UNITY is mission critical. As we lean into the 2020-2021 year - unity will be a reoccurring theme. We’ll find it in our preaching series’, we’ll discover it in spiritual growth opportunities, we’ll even have opportunities to practice what we preach in the second half of the year. In the early church, unity was mission critical. We’ll discover that since Acts 15...nothing has changed.

"How was work today?" and "How was school today?" might be the two most common conversations starters out there. Yet when asked about them, we often have little more than simplistic, reflexive responses that take the conversation nowhere. Why? Because we struggle grasp and actively hold on to how that work has anything to do with anything significant...our faith, with God, with how integral we are to God's care and mission for His world. Start seeing your work the way that God does and not only those conversations but also the work you're positioned to do becomes far more fruitful. You might even look forward to more than just getting them done.

Big cats that purr like kittens! This is the Sunday school story that made us all want to adopt lions, become lion tamers or join the circus. But, like all Sunday school stories, the story of Daniel and his decent into the lion’s den is far more about the human heart and its allegiance. This is a story of what it means to LOVE GOD above all things.
