“It’s not fair!” is a phrase cemented in the human experience. Like it or not, we demand fairness. But, in the ways of Jesus (and, frankly, in the world), fair doesn’t mean equal. Jesus tells a story that puts fairness and equality up against each other. Is it fair? Is it equal? Or is this the wrong question all together? Perhaps, the parable has something to say about the Father’s unfair love for his prodigals.
